Hi, friend! I was born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, went to school for Industrial Engineering at University of Miami down in Florida, and landed here in Atlanta to start Clarity! The idea for Clarity came about in my own recovery from an eating disorder. When I went into therapy, everything I knew about fitness was challenged in the best way. I thought that the constant pursuit of weight loss was just what fitness was about. I’m so grateful to now recognize that weight lost does not equate to health gained, that movement can be fun, joyful, playful and uplifting, and that there are tons of people and resources out there advocating for a weight inclusive world!
Our mantra here at Clarity is “You Are Enough” - a phrase that once internalized propelled my own recovery tenfold. I hope that you can start to see your “enough-ness” and worth a little bit more - both in your own body and your self - as you explore your movement journey.
I am not the most coordinated of people, so strength training really excited me as there were no rackets, balls, or hand-eye coordination involved! I have dabbled in horseback riding, boxing, dance fitness classes, spin classes, rollerblading, and (much to my teammates’ dismay) a few team sports. Joyful movement for me changes frequently, and I love playing with new movement modalities with new people!
"Body positivity" is not the same thing as having "positive body image”. Body positivity is a social justice movement centered around body liberation and fat positivity, while positive body image is one’s own inner relationship to their own body. I love helping people see the value and differences of each, and working to center the eating disorder recovery space around body positivity.
